On his personal financial journey as a young person, Tshepo shares the following:
“I believe that having a teachable money spirit has helped me to successfully navigate my finances and to learn more about money. The willingness to learn, to listen, to ask, to research, to question and to translate this into positive financial habits is to have a teachable money spirit. I read a lot of personal finance books, listen to the various money shows on radio including podcasts and attend personal finance events and webinars. Using various resources, I'm on my path to achieving financial freedom which includes budgeting, spending less then I earn and exhibiting delayed gratification
I'm very cautious with credit and carefully evaluate when it is necessary to take it up. I've seen many people get sucked into the debt cycle. My biggest financial mistake was not fully understanding balloon payments and the financial implications that follow. Education was the best antidote.”
