Who we are
The Association for Savings and Investment South Africa NPC, a non-profit company with registered address at Bridge House, Boundary Terraces, 1 Mariendahl Lane, Newlands, 7700 (“ASISA”) represents the collective interests of the country’s asset managers, collective investment scheme management companies, linked investment service providers, multi-managers and life insurance companies.
Purpose of this Privacy Notice
We at ASISA respect and are committed to ensuring the privacy of the persons we deal with and that that their personal information is collected and used appropriately, lawfully and transparently.
This Privacy Notice sets out briefly how we use your personal information in accordance with the law, especially the Protection of Personal Information Act (“POPIA”).
In this Privacy Notice, “Personal Information” has the meaning given to it in POPIA and basically means any personal information that identifies or relates to a natural and legal person.
If you provide Personal Information to us about another person, you must inform that person about this Privacy Notice and get their permission (where possible) for sharing their Personal Information with us.
It is important that you read this Privacy Notice together with any other privacy notice or fair processing notice we may provide on specific occasions when we are collecting or processing Personal Information about you so that you are fully aware of how and why we are using your information. This Privacy Notice supplements the other notices and is not intended to override them.

ASISA is a “responsible party” under POPIA and, as such, is responsible for the Personal Information we have about you and is registered with the South African Information Regulator.

9 RETENTION OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION
We keep your Personal Information only as long as is necessary to fulfill the purposes for which the information was collected or as required by law or to meet regulatory or legislative requirements or as otherwise permitted by law.
When your Personal Information is no longer required, we will securely dispose of it.
10 USE OF COOKIES
Cookies are small pieces of data, that act as a tracking file, sent from a website and stored on the user’s computer by the user’s web browser while the user is browsing. Please note that some parts of our website may not function fully if you disallow cookies. Cookies do not personally identify you, but rather your browser. The cookies simply operate as a unique identifier, which help us to know what our users find interesting and useful in this website. We do not link this information back to other information that you have provided to us, unless required by law or you have agreed. We do not store any Personal Information inside cookies. We may engage third party services from time to time for website monitoring, reporting and analysis purposes. Those services may also use cookies and gather anonymous web usage information (as described above) through this website. Note that we do not use cookies for tracking purposes.
11 AUTOMATED DECISION MAKING
Sometimes, as part of our business operations, decisions are taken about you using automated computer software and systems. These decisions do not involve human input. We do not envisage that any decisions will be taken about you using automated means, however if this position changes, we will only use automated decision making if it is lawful for us to do so and we have notified you.
12 SECURITY OF PERSONAL INFORMATION
We secure the integrity and confidentiality of your Personal Information by taking appropriate and reasonable technical and organizational measures against loss of, or unauthorized destruction of your Personal Information and unauthorized access to or processing of your Personal Information.
When we provide your Personal Information to our third-party service providers, we require the third-party service provider to use appropriate security measures to keep your Personal Information confidential and secure.
